It pro-poses to go beyond the prevalent divisive discourse towards a trans-national European ethnology/anthropology of Europe. It argues that fairness and equality in academic dialogue is a necessary prerequisite of such an endeavour. The master’s programme in European Ethnology equips students with knowledge of the historical context and present dispositions of daily practice and cultural manifestations in European societies. In addition, it provides them with competences in theory-based specialist methodology and scientific working skills. The „Journal for European Ethnology and Cultural Analysis“ (JEECA) is the English language edition of the biannual „Zeitschrift für Volkskunde“ (peer reviewed). Ethnology (from the Greek ἔθνος, ethnos meaning "nation") is the branch of anthropology that compares and analyzes the characteristics of different peoples and the relationship between them (cf. cultural, social, or sociocultural anthropology).
